Sykia

Sykia is located in one of the most beautiful areas of northeastern Peloponnese. The privileged location of its picturesque bay has made it one of the most stunning destinations in Corinthia.

To the west of Sykia lies the beautiful pine forest of “Pefkias”—an ideal spot for hiking, running, and tennis enthusiasts. The forest stretches along a wonderful pebbled beach, offering the perfect opportunity to relax right by the sea.

Xylokastro

The town of Xylokastro offers unique scenery shifts: the coastal road is perfect for a stroll at any time of the year, while the seaside bike path offers a delightful experience for cycling lovers.

On the western edge of the town, you will find the scenic Marina along with the “Vassilis Georgiadis” open-air theatre, which hosts numerous cultural events during the summer months.

Forest Pefkias

This magnificent coastal pine forest, just outside Xylokastro, is one of the region’s most iconic natural attractions, drawing an increasing number of visitors throughout the year.

A walk through the pine forest, a stroll on the nearby beach, swimming in its crystal-clear waters, and water sports when the weather permits, are just a few of the reasons why people love “Pefkias”.

Trikala Corinthia

From Xylokastro, you head uphill towards Mount Ziria. Along the way, you will encounter beautiful traditional villages, the most famous of all being Trikala Korinthias.

Ziria Ski Center

Situated on the plateau of Mount Ziria (or Kyllini) at an altitude of 1,500 meters, the Ziria Ski Center has been operating since 2007. It is located just 10 kilometers from the rapidly growing tourist resort of Trikala Korinthias, and a stone’s throw away from both Athens and Patras.

Lake Doxa – Mountainous Corinthia

Lake Doxa is an artificial lake just a one-hour drive from Sykia. Located at an altitude of 900 meters, it was created in the late 1990s. In the heart of the lake, on a narrow strip of land, stands the small chapel of Agios Fanourios. A bit higher up, overlooking the lake, dominates the historic Monastery of Agios Georgios.

Vouraikos Gorge – Kalavryta

This gorge is famous for the small cog railway train that crosses it. Starting from the coastal village of Diakopto, it literally climbs up to the mountainous town of Kalavryta at an altitude of 737 meters. The view from the train is unique, as the route passes through a lush forest, steep rocks, and caves, right above the river.

Ancient Sicyon (Sikyona)

A small but extremely significant archaeological site. The theater of Ancient Sicyon, which you can admire up close, was one of the largest and most important in ancient Greece. In fact, according to tradition, this is where the art of tragedy was born. It is definitely a place worth adding to your itinerary.

Ancient Corinth

This is the most important archaeological site near Sykia, and one you definitely shouldn’t miss. It is remarkably well-preserved, with the main temple and the ancient marketplace (Agora) being absolute must-sees. Apostle Paul lived and taught here, authoring the famous “First Epistle to the Corinthians” and the timeless “Hymn to Love.”

Temple of Hera – Heraion of Loutraki

On a calm and sunny day, it is hard to find a more beautiful spot in the entire Corinthian Gulf. The sanctuary of the goddess Hera, wife of Zeus, is located below a lighthouse, next to a small, highly picturesque chapel in an isolated cove facing the city of Corinth.

Holy Monastery of Panagia Korifis

About a 30-minute drive from Xylokastro, built at an altitude of 730 meters, lies the Holy Monastery of Panagia tis Koryfis (also known as Korfiotissa or Zoodochos Pigi). The monastery offers unobstructed, panoramic views of the Corinthian Gulf, beautifully blending the majestic mountain landscape with its proximity to the sea. The monastery celebrates twice a year: on the Assumption of Mary (August 15th) and on Bright Friday (the Friday after Easter). For the more adventurous, there is “The Trail of Panagia,” a special hiking route that leads on foot to the top of the mountain and the monastery.

Ancient Nemea

Another well-preserved historical site featuring an excellent museum. Ancient Nemea hosts the impressive Temple of Zeus and the ancient stadium, the very spot where the famous “Nemean Games” were organized in antiquity.

Ancient Stymphalia

Ancient Stymphalia is built on the shores of the lake of the same name, which became famous through Hercules. Here, the mythical hero performed his sixth labor by defeating the Stymphalian Birds—the notorious man-eating birds of Stymphalia.

Ancient Aigeira

The ancient theater, excavated by the Austrian Archaeological Institute, is the region’s most prominent attraction. It is very well-preserved and gazes out over the Corinthian Gulf, offering a unique view comparable to that of Delphi

Delphi

Nestled at the foot of Mount Parnassus lies Delphi, the site of the most famous oracle of antiquity. The area features exceptionally preserved monuments, such as the ancient theater, the stadium, and the iconic Tholos.

Epidaurus

The Ancient Theater of Epidaurus, where theatrical performances are still staged today, is a place you must visit at least once in your lifetime. The archaeological site of Epidaurus has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site, as its historical significance extends far beyond its world-famous theater.

Mycenae

Mycenae has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1999 and ranks among the most important cultural destinations in the world. You have surely heard of the famous Agamemnon, the leader of the Greeks in the Trojan War.

Ancient Olympia

Alongside the Acropolis of Athens, this is one of the most renowned archaeological monuments in Greece. In antiquity, it was the birthplace and host of the famous Olympic Games, which were held there every four years.

Nafplio

Nafplio, the first capital of Greece, is one of the country’s most charming and romantic cities. Wander through the picturesque alleys of the Old Town with its neoclassical mansions, admire the imposing Palamidi Fortress with its 999 steps, and enjoy the sunset with a view of the famous Bourtzi castle. A destination steeped in history and unmatched beauty that captivates every visitor.
